Thank you for a great semester. It was weird to have you has a teacher. :)
But it was fun and interesting, thank you!

Today we presented to two classes, and also my own 5th period class. Many people did listen and paid attention to what we were saying, which makes me think we'll get many responses. Tomorrow I believe this will continue. We'll present more as well as work out at the booths during lunch and try to persuade more students to write.

Today Melina and I rewrote with chalk after the rain. We wrote Operation Gratitude around the grass area and in BIG letters in the center of the quad area. Tomorrow, I plan on presenting this schoolwide project into classrooms and during the lunches.

Today, I had started a poster for the class project. I was unable to finish it, but I intend to tomorrow.
to prepare for tomorrow, I need to brainstorm and think of what I want people to know exactly for the poster. It's easy to decorate, but the information is most important for this. Also, I do actually like a pink highlighter in your "color" box I'm hoping you would let me keep. :)

John Hickenlooper in the "Shower" Ad.
To be honest, I dont believe I've heard of this man, but I assume that is because this ad is for Colorado. I agree with how he doesn't like negative ads. I know that they are because they want their apponent to look bad, but is it really necessary? In this ad John Hickenlooper is constantly going into the shower with his clothes because he feels ngative ads are just so dirty that he needs to. And this is how he shows his dislike for negative ads. To me, negative ads do nothing. They may make the other person look bad, but it also makes you look bad for being this way towards another. It's a bad image and you wouldn't want to be looked at in bad way during voting times. I know that that is how I see it.

I'm not exactly sure this will work because I'm not sure how to post videos. Let me know if it doesn't and il try another way. :)

Teacher Evaluation
I was pretty surprised at the answers after my interview was complete. Some of the answers were kind of obvious while others were surprising that a teacher would believe certain things. The first question I had asked was how they, as a teacher, would want to be evaluated. His answer was for it to be based on their performance in class rather than test scores for each class. Many students also believed this was a better way to evaluate teachers, so this makes me think that maybe teachers should start being evaluated in this way. Another question was if they think parents should be more involved in their children’s education and it was an exact yes which I believe is to be true. If parents paid more attention to how their kids are doing in school they’d be able to push their kids more forward into doing better. The most interesting question I found was the answer to what they would like to see changed in the school system. As a teacher, he wants to see the better teachers have more of a say in what is coming and going throughout the school. This is almost like an award for the good teachers and I think this may be a good idea. Lastly, I had asked how important do you think teachers are in a students’ life compared to the parents and the students themselves, similar to the question you has us answer. He believed parents are number, and then the teachers come into a close 2nd. Every answer to every question had some reason for it and it gave me a better look at how teachers look into the school system

Cyber Bullying
I believe it has become a big issue on the bullying online. My mom is always reading into the news online and one day she had even said that the bullying online has been starting to build up and thats a big issue. In this article I had found on my yahoo homepage, it describes the two different kinds of parents that pay attention to their childrens lives. There are "hot" or "cold" parents who either are really involved in what they do or not at all. I thought it was pretty interesting and I can point out what kind of parents mine are.

Reflection
For my first discussion I’ve been in, I thought it was pretty interesting. I liked how everyone would just continue to argue back and forth, sometimes it got a little too far to the point where I’d have to look at you to see if you were going to stop it. But I think everyone had made some good points. I especially liked almost every argument Brittany made. She had a reason for everything she said and she had complete assurance in herself that she knew what she was talking about. One point I thought was really good was how she explained that just because an illegal immigrant pays their taxes, that doesn’t make up for the major law they had broken. They still did something illegal and unless you serve some jail time, that doesn’t make it right.
I personally could not decide on whether or not I agreed with the SB 1070. We currently are in a bad time with the economy and it’s hard for many families, including mine, to keep up with paying so many bills. I can tell you how hard it is to get a job because I’ve applied to at least 20 stores or restaurants in the past year or so. The fact that they come over here for a job takes away our right to find one for ourselves to help keep up. But at the same time, they are coming from a hard life in Mexico . I’ve only been to Cabo and Ensenada on a cruise and I could honestly say that I didn’t like it and I was really afraid. We were on a tourist site, so I can’t even imagine how it is farther inside the country. Along with all the violence from the drug cartels, they’re just trying to get away from that and I know I would too if I lived there.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Immigration
I thought this was pretty interesting because he has a really good point. He says of how illegal immigrants work around his house to repair things. He believes they are "what's keeping this country's lifeblood moving forward." The article can be found here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-09-19-powell-immigration_N.htm?csp=YahooModule_News.
I wasn't exactly trying to find information on illegal immigration, but as i changed my Yahoo homepage this was one of the first articles listed and it caught my eye.

Obama and the Immigration Law
It's crazy to think that with tion law in Arizona, it would affect President Obama. In a way it can be obvious because he is the president and people expect him to make things right, but this wasn't exactly his idea, yet people are looking at him to blame when it doesn't change. Just like with the mosque in New York, people are upset with the fact that the president is not agreeing with what they believe is to be right. Obama's voter polls are going down, due to the fact that people are not seeing the president as sharing their values they believe he is to do as a Democratic president.
In my opinion, I believe the bill will be able to help with the immigration issues in this country. However, I do see how it may be a racial issue, because I am part Mexican, and I have the look. If I were to visit Arizona, I may become the subject in a situation I do not agree with. But there is a big issue with illegal immigrants that needs to be taken care of.

Reflection
The mosque debate had become a big issue in the U.S., especially being so close to September 11. The fact that there is a debate at all is incredible; there shouldn’t be one at all. Our country believes in freedom of religion, therefore it should be honored by all people of the U.S. I would have to say I enjoyed learning about how other people felt with this issue and their arguments for or against it. Everyone has the right to their opinion and they all make very good points. However, I still stand by what I believe in and will not change my mind. They should build the mosque, simple as that. We should prove how good of a country we are and stand by our own words as said in the Constitution. If not, we look like hypocrites by going against something we supposedly believe in ourselves.
Sorry this was posted so late, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to be reflection on after being absent for the class discussion. I hope I did okay, but if not I will be there next time and it will be better.
